Whatever the subject matter is, my paintings reflect my fascination with the possibilities of the imagination.
Portraits: I’ve always watched people and collecting faces is a pastime of mine. Since childhood I’ve drawn and painted people from my imagination that are constructed from those I see and store away to use when I need them. I can’t always predict what will morph into being, but I know they will intrigue the viewer because they have intrigued me.
Themes: Whether it is a novel I have read, or a piece of music I have heard sometimes the ideas are born from a need to see what will come if enough effort and care are applied to an inspiration.
Media: Oils, Acrylics, Watercolor, Gouache, the need supplies the medium. I like all for different reasons, none can claim my heart, and I am not a rigidly orthodox practitioner of any. I am still learning (as I hope we all are) discovery and set backs are part of the process.
